Vietnam Customs with the first name as "Department of Tarifs and Indeect Tax was established under the Ministry of Finance on October 3, 1945. On December 14, 1954, the Minister of Industry and Trade established the Customs Department From April 16 to 29, 1958, the 8 Session of the first Nonal Assembly decided to separate the Ministry of Trade into two Ministries Ministry of Internal Trade and The Ministry of Foreign Trade Central Customs Department was under the Ministry of Foreign Trade On September 4, 2002. Central Customs Department changed name to the General Deparment of Vietnam Customs under the governance of Ministry of Finance
